Match Recap: LA Galaxy II notch 3-0 win over Saint Louis FC

LA Galaxy II (2-0-0) handily defeated Saint Louis FC (0-2-0) 3-0 Wednesday night at StubHub Center in the first-ever meeting between the two sides.

A brace from captain Jack McBean and Bryam Rebellon’s first career USL goal gave Los Dos its second straight win to open the 2016 USL Regular Season.

McBean opened the scoring for Galaxy II in the 42nd minute when he received a neatly threaded pass from Jaime Villarreal, rounded the goalkeeper and found the open net. Galaxy struck again soon after when a long-range shot from Rebellon took a slight deflection off a Saint Louis FC defender before bouncing off the post and into the goal.

Los Dos finished the first half up 2-0, just as they did in their home opener against Arizona United SC. In the second half, McBean added his second on the nice when he placed a perfectly taken free kick around the wall and into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Much like in the team’s first home match, the Galaxy II defense went largely untested throughout the course of the night as Saint Louis FC recorded just one shot on goal and Los Dos goalkeeper Clement Diop earned his second shutout of the season.

Next, Galaxy II will face Real Monarchs SLC in the team’s first road match of the season on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium. The match will be the Galaxy’s third fixture in eight days. For a full LA Galaxy II schedule, visit www.lagalaxy.com/2.
