CARSON, Calif. -- When Giovani dos Santos scored against Real Salt Lake, the Mexican striker immediately thought back to one of the finest moments of his career.
Dos Santos scored a remarkable goal on Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando in the 45th minute of the Galaxy's 5-2 victory over the previously undefeated club. Immediately after his impressive finish, Dos Santos thought back to the most famous goal of his career, his legendary goal against the United States in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final at Pasadena's Rose Bowl.
"The truth is it was pure joy. I think it was a beautiful goal. And as a forward you want to be on the score sheet and contribute to the team’s success as I’ve said before," Dos Santos said. “Yes, it reminded me of the goal in 2011. I think it was practically the same; only it was on the different side. When the ball went in, that goal [from 2011] crossed my mind immediately.”
