CARSON, Calif. – Robbie Keane expects to be back in the starting lineup when the LA Galaxy take on New York City FC on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
Keane missed a pair of matches last week due to an orbital fracture suffered in the Galaxy’s 2-2 draw with New York Red Bulls on Aug. 7.
The Irishman has been in training since last week and barely missed out on playing in the team’s draw with the Colorado Rapids last weekend due to the league’s concussion protocol. Keane, who scored twice in the only meeting between the two teams a year ago, has trained this week with a mask that he’ll likely need to wear on Saturday.
“Probably,” Keane said when asked if he’d need to wear the mask during the match. “Fairly awkward as you can imagine. But we’ll see. … [I’ve been wearing it] in training it was on a little bit, and then I took it off. We’ll see how it is. I’m not too worried about it. It’s no problem at all.”
