CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016) – The LA Galaxy will aid in the fight against pediatric cancer when they participate in Bald is Beautiful and invite fans to shave their heads during the team’s match at against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, Sept. 3 at StubHub Center. The LA Galaxy have set a goal to raise $10,000 in support of St. Baldrick’s Foundation and their mission to fund the most promising childhood cancer research.
Fans can visit www.stbaldricks.org/events/LAGalaxy to donate to St. Baldrick’s on behalf of the LA Galaxy. Currently committed to participate in Bald is Beautiful is LA Galaxy President Chris Klein and Columbus Crew SC Head Coach and former Galaxy player Gregg Berhalter, among other LA Galaxy players and staff.
Fans can also register as a Bald is Beautiful Shavee at www.stbaldricks.org/events/LAGalaxy during the Galaxy’s match at StubHub Center against the Columbus Crew on Sept. 3. All registered Shavees will participate by shaving their heads during a special event throughout match day. The first 50 participants to register and personally raise $50 will receive a complimentary ticket for the LA Galaxy-Columbus Crew match.
Fans that aren’t registered as an official Shavee can support friends, family or the LA Galaxy by donating to reach their goal. The top-earning Shavee will win a prize from the LA Galaxy Foundation.
Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every 2 minutes. One in five kids diagnosed in the U.S. will not survive, and of those who survive, two-thirds will suffer long-term effects from the very treatment that saved their life. By participating in this event, the Galaxy will help support the St. Baldrick's Foundation in funding the most promising childhood cancer research to give kids the happy childhoods they deserve.
