CARSON, Calif. – Steven Gerrard is still “likely” a week away from returning to action according to LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena.
The 36-year-old midfielder has been hampered by a hamstring injury since Aug. 27 when he was forced to exit the team’s scoreless draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Gerrard recently returned to the practice field, but has been limited to fitness work.
Arena admits that he is encouraged by Gerrard’s progress, but the midfielder is unlikely to suit up against Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.
“He’s coming along,” Bruce Arena said. He’s almost back.”
