CARSON, Calif. – French midfielder Romain Alessandrini is en route to Los Angeles ahead of a potential move to LA Galaxy.
Alessandrini, who has spent the last two-and-a-half seasons with Marseille, will land in Los Angeles tonight to finalize a move to the Galaxy. I'm hearing that a move is not yet final, but the two sides are close to a deal that will make the 27-year-old the club’s second Designated Player.
The Galaxy are also expected to sign defender Jelle Van Damme to a Designated Player deal in the coming days, but the Belgian’s contract will be paid down with Targeted Allocation Money as the club pursues targets during the summer transfer window.
A native of Marseille, Alessandrini notched ten goals and eight assists in 32 appearances for his hometown side since joining the club in Summer 2014. Before his time with L’OM, he had stints at French clubs Renne, Gueugnon, and Clermont.
