The 2018 LA Galaxy Special Olympics Southern California Unified season came to a close on Sunday, October 28th, culminating with the opportunity to meet Galaxy players on the field following their season finale match and receive a game-worn jersey.
The Galaxy SOSC Unified Team met before the match for an end of the season party to cap off a season which included a dramatic stoppage-time victory on the road against the Real Salt Lake Special Olympics side on September 1st. Members of the team also participated in Street Soccer USA’s inaugural “LA Cup” at LA Live on August 18th.
Following the Galaxy match on Sunday, SOSC members were assigned a specific Galaxy player to meet with and receive their game-worn jersey. This was another example of the connection that the LA Galaxy share with their Special Olympics Unified team. Head Coach Dominic Kinnear and Galaxy center back Daniel Steres provided insight and encouragement for the team throughout their season.
The LA Galaxy, partnering with Special Olympics Southern California, hosted the LAUSD Unified Soccer Division 2 South League Finals held at the StubHub Center on Thursday, November 1st.
The LA Galaxy Special Olympics Southern California Unified Soccer Team will be holding tryouts in early 2019 for the newest edition of players.
