David Bingham stands tall with five saves to give shorthanded LA Galaxy shutout win over Montreal

MONTREAL – Ola Kamara got the goal, but it was David Bingham who saved the LA Galaxy’s (Canadian) bacon in Montreal.

Bingham enjoyed his finest outing in a Galaxy shirt on Monday as he made five saves to keep a clean sheet and help Los Angeles earn a 1-0 victory on the road against the Montreal Impact despite going down to 10 men late in the first half. The win halted the Galaxy’s four-game losing skid.

The Galaxy back line was under siege for much of the match with the home squad registering a whopping 22 shots on the afternoon. Bingham held firm, saving an Ignacio Piatti shot in the first half, and then coming up clutch to make a pair of miraculous saves midway through the second half to secure the team's third shutout of the season.

With the Galaxy's defensive struggles quickly becoming a major early-season storyline, Bingham's showing will provide a needed confidence booster for Sigi Schmid's team.
