LOS ANGELES -- Diego Polenta will not be returning to the LA Galaxy in 2020.
The Uruguayan central defender announced on his social media on Friday that he will not return for the upcoming campaign. Polenta, who saw his option declined on Thursday, made 30 appearances for the club in MLS competition scoring one goal and tallying six assists.
In his post, Polenta thanked the club for his year in Los Angeles.
"I want to thank all members of LA Galaxy for the trust, the affection and the way they treated me. It was an amazing experience," Polenta wrote. "I especially want to thank Guillermo and his coaching staff for believing in me and Dennis for always wanting the best for both parts.
"I know I will always be welcome to the team, which is something I really appreciate. To my teammates, staff, and fans, a big thank you. Good luck and success for the upcoming."
