LOS ANGELES -- Efrain Alvarez is off to join Mexico ahead of the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Mexican federation announced on Sunday that Alvarez will replace Inter Miami CF's Rodolfo Pizzaro on the squad after Pizzaro picked up an injury during training camp. Alvarez joins his LA Galaxy teammate Jonathan dos Santos on the squad.
El Tri will face off against Panama on Wednesday in Nashville before returning to Los Angeles to take on Nigeria on Saturday at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
