LA Galaxy midfielder Efrain Alvarez started and helped set up a goal as the MLS Homegrowns picked up a penalty kick shootout victory over Chivas de Guadalajara's Under-20's in the 2019 MLS Homegrown Game in Orlando.
San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski made two saves in the penalty shootout while Toronto FC's Noble Okello equalized deep in stoppage time to help the league earn the victory.
Alvarez's free kick which found Omir Fernandez of the New York Red Bulls in the second minute helped the Homegrowns get on the board after an early tally from the Mexican side.
