LA Galaxy fans will forever remember Guillermo "El Pando" Ramirez for his extra-time goal in the 2005 MLS Cup Final against the New England Revolution that gave LA their second MLS Cup title, but the Guatemalan's name will now be known for something far more sinster after being banned from soccer for life by FIFA for match-fixing.
Ramirez was one of three Guatemalan players banned from soccer by the Guatemala federation in September for their role in fixing three matches , CSD Municipal's 6-1 defeat to Santos Laguna in October, 2010 and a pair of international friendlies: Guatemala's 2-0 defeat to Venezuela in June 2011 and 3-2 defeat to Costa Rica in May 2012. On Wednesday, FIFA extended the ban worldwide by preventing the trio from participating in soccer in any capacity for the remainder of their lives.
