CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, August 9, 2011) – CONCACAF today unveiled the complete schedule for the Group Stage of the 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League, which begins one week from today. The Galaxy have been drawn into Group A along with Honduran Clausura champion Club Motagua, Costa Rican champion LD Alajuelense and Mexican Clausura runner-up Monarcas Morelia. They will play all three of those teams twice, once at home and once on the road, during the Group Stage of the competition, which ends on Thursday, October 20.
Tickets for the first two Galaxy home games are on sale now starting at $25.
Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets in each seating level with prices ranging from $20 to $150.
The home match against Motagua is included in all Galaxy full season ticket plans as Bonus Game 3. Additionally, the club has extended complimentary tickets to the game against Alajuelense to full season ticket holders, even though it was not included in their original ticket plan. Tickets for the home match against Morelia will go on-sale at a yet to be determined date.
Late last month CONCACAF announced the first two Group Stage games for all 16 teams that remain in the Champions League, with the Galaxy hosting each of their first two games in the competition. They will open the tournament at The Home Depot Center on Tuesday, August 16 at 7 p.m. when they take on Club Motagua, who beat Guatemala’s Municipal 4-2 on aggregate to qualify for the Group Stage. The Galaxy will be back in action at home nine days later when they host LD Alajuelense at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25.
Just over two weeks later, the Galaxy will play their first road game of the Champions League, traveling to Morelia, Mexico where they will take on Monarcas Morelia, who beat Tempete FC from Haiti 7-0 on aggregate to qualify, at Estadio Morelos in a game that will be played at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13. Bruce Arena’s team will be back on the road eight days later on Wednesday, September 21 when they fly to Alajuela, Costa Rica to take on Alajuelense at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto at 7 p.m.
The Galaxy return home for their final home game of the Group Stage on Wednesday, September 28, when they host Morelia for the first time ever at 7 p.m. They will play their final game of Group A on Thursday, October 20 when they travel to Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to face Motagua.
