LA Galaxy Foundation’s community clinic series continued on Tuesday, July 23rd, hosting forty-five youth from Children’s Institute. (CII) at Ted Watkins Memorial Park. Serving over 26,000 children and families annually, Children’s Institute. (CII) transforms the lives of youth exposed to poverty and adversity in the Los Angeles area.
The community clinic kicked off with CII youth, ages five to fourteen gearing up with LA Galaxy t-shirts for the 90-minute soccer clinic. The LA Galaxy camps & clinics coaches divided the youth into three groups and rotated them through dribbling, shooting, and scrimmage drills. After completing the rotations, Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) held a workshop where youth learned how to encourage their teammates and give positive comments on and off the field.
With the support of LA Galaxy’s corporate sponsor Herbalife Nutrition, the LA Galaxy Foundation will donate $100,000 to Children’s Institute in 2019.
In addition, throughout the 2019 LA Galaxy MLS soccer season, the LA Galaxy Community Clinic Series will continue to provide youth with the opportunity to participate in soccer programming in the Los Angeles community.
