LOS ANGELES (Monday, June 12, 2023) – The LA Galaxy today announced that defender Jalen Neal has been named to the U.S. Men’s National Team 23-player roster for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Neal, 19, has made two appearances (1 start) for the U.S. Men’s National Team since starting and playing 90 minutes in his debut against Serbia at BMO Stadium on Jan. 25, 2023. The Lakewood, Calif., native has recorded one goal in 18 appearances (16 starts) across all competitions for the Galaxy during the 2023 campaign. The LA Galaxy Academy product helped the U.S. U-20 National Team qualify for the 2023 U-20 FIFA World Cup and the 2024 Olympics in Paris after tallying one goal in five appearances (5 starts) during the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship, en-route to earning Concacaf U-20 Championship Best XI honors.
The USMNT is part of Group A in the Gold Cup along with Jamaica, Nicaragua and a team that will be determined through the 2023 Gold Cup Prelims. Based on the Gold Cup Prelims draw, the remaining team in Group A could be one of four possibilities: Curaçao, French Guiana, Sint Maarten or St. Kitts and Nevis. The Prelims Round will run from June 16-20 at DRV PNK Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The USMNT will square off against Jamaica at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill., on Saturday, June 24 (6:30 p.m. PT), will face off against a team to be confirmed at CITYPARK in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, June 28 (6:30 p.m. PT) and will go up against Nicaragua at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday, July 2 (4:00 p.m. PT).
