LOS ANGELES (Monday, Nov. 18, 2019) – The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has picked up the option to extend the loan of Cristian Pavon through the 2020 MLS Regular Season. Pavon will occupy a Designated Player and International roster spot on the LA Galaxy’s 2020 roster.
In just 11 MLS Regular Season games with the Galaxy last season, Pavon tallied three goals and eight assists after making his debut on Aug. 11, including a stretch that saw him tally a goal or assist in eight straight contests. In postseason play, he made an additional two appearances, scoring once.
LA originally acquired the 23-year-old forward on loan from Argentina’s Club Atlético Boca Juniors earlier this year. Pavon, who played in every match for Argentina during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, joined the club after playing in Argentina’s top-flight division since 2012.
The LA Galaxy will travel to South Florida to face Inter Miami CF on Saturday, March 14, in what will mark the expansion club’s first Regular Season home game in their inaugural season in Major League Soccer. The game is set to kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET (11:30 a.m. PT) at Fort Lauderdale Stadium.
The five-time MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy will kick off their 25th season in Major League Soccer in the Spring of 2020. The Galaxy’s season opener, along with the club’s entire 2020 MLS Regular Season, will be announced on a later date.
