CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, November 8, 2011) – CONCACAF today announced the pairings for the Championship Rounds of the 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League. As the winners of Group A in the Group Stage of the competition, the Galaxy were assured of drawing one of the second place teams from Group B, C or D in the draw, which was held earlier today in New York City. The Galaxy, who were the second team in MLS history to win their group in the tournament, are in the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the first time in club history.

The Galaxy will resume their quest to become the first MLS team to win the Champions League in early March when they face Canada’s lone representative in the tournament, Toronto FC, who finished second in Group C, in the Champions League quarterfinals. They will play a two-leg, home-and-home, aggregate goal series, with the winner advancing to the Champions League semifinals. The first leg of that series will be played in Toronto between March 6-8 with the Galaxy hosting the return leg between March 13-15.

If the Galaxy advance past Toronto FC, they will face the winner of the series between Seattle Sounders FC and Mexican side Santos Laguna in the Champions League semifinals. Seattle finished second in Group D while Santos won Group B. The two legs of the semifinal will be played March 27-29 and April 3-5, with the Galaxy hosting the first leg if they advance.

On the other half of the bracket, Mexican clubs Monarcas Morelia and Monterrey will face one another in one quarterfinal while Isidro Metapan of El Salvador will face Pumas UNAM of Mexico in the other.

The 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League Finals will be played over two legs, with the first being played April 17-19 and the return leg, which LA would host if they reach the Finals, April 24-26.
