LA Galaxy Forward Gyasi Zardes has been called in for the annual U.S. Men’s National Team January Camp, U.S. Soccer announced today. Zardes and 29 others will report Jan. 10 to U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

Zardes was last called in by USMNT in October 2017 for the team’s final two World Cup Qualifying matches against Panama and Trinidad & Tobago, but was forced to withdraw from the roster after picking up a groin strain in the Galaxy’s Sept. 30 match vs. Real Salt Lake.

“We’re excited about our 2018 January Camp roster. It’s all about the future and opportunity,” said U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach Dave Sarachan. “We clearly feel that we want to have a look at these players that have the chance to be a part of the National Team for a number of years to come. It’s a long journey forward, but this is the first step starting in 2018 for the program and for these players to now get experience at this level.”

With 37 caps, Gyasi Zardes is the most seasoned player at the international level, followed by Juan Agudelo (27), Jordan Morris (24) and Paul Arriola (15). Zardes, a graduate of the LA Galaxy Academy, is one of 19 players on the roster with ties to a U.S. Soccer Development Academy club.

The team will train ahead of a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Jan. 28 at StubHub Center. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. PT, and the match will be broadcast live on FS1 and UniMas.
