In lead up to the 2019 International Champions Cup, the LA Galaxy Foundation and FC Bayern Munich hosted a joint community clinic at The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth and Community Center on Monday, July 15th. Over seventy-five youth, ages seven to thirteen were outfitted in FC Bayern Munich t-shirts and LA Galaxy hats to participate in the 90-minute professional soccer clinic. FC Bayern Munich Legend Giovanne Elber, Coach Lars Weichert and LA Galaxy Camp & Clinic Coaches arranged and rotated the youth through passing, scrimmage, and shooting stations on the field. During the soccer clinic, youth had the opportunity to win prizes from LA Galaxy Star Squad’s booth and FC Bayern coaches held a shooting competition where one lucky winner won a FC Bayern Munich jersey. At the conclusion of the clinic, FC Bayern Munich coaches handed out notebooks and hats to all participants.
On March 1, 2019, The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth and Community Center turf field opened with support from Herbalife Nutrition, AEG, the LA Galaxy Foundation and David Beckham providing a safe place to play soccer in downtown Los Angeles. STORY HERE
Throughout the 2019 LA Galaxy MLS soccer season, the LA Galaxy Community Clinic Series will continue to provide youth with the opportunity to participate in soccer programming in the Los Angeles community.
