In support of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the LA Galaxy Foundation hosted a successful week-long food drive running from October 12th through the 18th; Thanks to help from LA Galaxy front-office staff, players, fans, LA Galaxy South Bay, and Timbers Army, over 1,150 pounds of food were collected. These food drive donations will allow the LA Regional Food Bank to distribute 958 meals to hungry children and their families, seniors, and individuals in Los Angeles County.
The food drive is a part of the Galaxy’s ongoing partnership with the LA Regional Food Bank. Earlier this year, the Galaxy participated in BackPack Distribution at Mayo Elementary School, as Todd Dunivant helped hand out backpacks full of food to children in the community. On November 5th, LA Galaxy’s 20 for Twenty will continue with the LA Galaxy Impact Volunteer Day at LA Regional Food Bank. 20 for Twenty is a year-long initiative that will see the implementation of 20 unique community service acts to celebrate the Galaxy’s 20th season in Major League Soccer.
The LA Galaxy Foundation, the non-profit arm of the LA Galaxy, is dedicated to assisting the community in which the team lives, works, and plays. LA Galaxy players, coaches, alumni and staff spend countless hours giving back to the community at local schools, hospitals, fields, and events. The Foundation continually strives to aid organizations that meet its mission of supporting and creating education, health, and soccer-related activities and programs for youth in the greater Los Angeles area.
