LA Galaxy hosts Read Across America Day celebration at Dignity Health Sports Park

LA Galaxy players and LA Chargers players read Dr. Seuss books to more than 200 elementary school students in Carson, Calif. for the nation-wide celebration of children’s author Dr. Seuss.


A Galaxy, alongside Dignity Health Sports Park ASCSC Community Foundation, Los Angeles Chargers and MLS WORKS hosted the third annual Read Across America Celebration at Dignity Health Sports Park yesterday for more than 200 elementary school students as part of a nation-wide celebration of children’s author Dr. Seuss.


In addition to reading Dr. Seuss stories, students participated in a soccer clinic and received lunch provided by Levy Restaurants in addition to a book to take home courtesy of MLS WORKS.


Among those who read Dr. Seuss books to Towne Ave. Elementary School and Leapwood Ave. Elementary School included: LA Galaxy midfielder Perry Kitchen, defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce, goalie Matt Lampson, alumni Kevin Hartman, assistant coach Dominic Kinnear, Dignity Health Sports Park General Manager Katie Pandolfo, Galaxy II players, Cozmo and the Galaxy Star Squad, in addition to Chargers linebacker Nick Dzubnar, linebacker Jatavis Brown and alumni Antoine Cason and youth ambassador Bolt.  Staff from the LA Galaxy, Dignity Health Sports Park, NFL Network and Kinecta Federal Credit Union also participated throughout the event.  


Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss.
