LA Galaxy II have acquired 20-year-old Panamanian International Ernesto Walker on a season-long loan from Panama’s C.D. Plaza Amador, the club announced today. He will be added pending league and federation approval, as well as P-1 visa approval and receipt of his ITC.
“Ernesto is a talented, young midfielder who we think can be a strong attacking option for LA Galaxy II,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. “We are excited to add Ernesto to our roster and look forward to his development as a player.”
Born in Panama City, Panama, Walker made his professional debut with Club Atlético Independiente de la Chorrera of Liga Panameña de Fútbol, before signing with C.D. Plaza Amador in July 2018.
Internationally, Walker has featured for the Panama U-20 National Team on six occasions, recording four starts and two goals to date. Both goals came against the Mexico U-20 National Team during the qualification round of the Concacaf U-20 Championship. Walker earned his first senior call up with the Panama National Team for a friendly against the U.S. Men’s National Team on Jan. 27, 2019 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
Walker and LA Galaxy II will kick off the 2019 USL Regular Season on Saturday, March 9 against Colorado Springs Switchbacks at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium. Tickets to the 2019 Home Opener are on sale now.
