CARSON, Calif. –LA Galaxy II clinched their sixth victory in USL PRO as they dominated OKC Energy FC with an impressive 5-0 win at StubHub Center on Saturday.
Chandler Hoffman and Bradford Jamieson IV each scored a brace while Jack McBean rounded out the scoring with his first goal of the season to seal Los Dos’ biggest ever victory. The win brings LA Galaxy II’s record up to 6-2-3 in the USL PRO play.
Galaxy II started the match quickly as a pinpoint cross from Oscar Sorto found Hoffman in acres of space in the 13th minute. The forward was then able to calmly nod it past Jon Kempin to put Los Dos ahead.
In the 22nd minute, referee Tyler Ploeger pointed to the penalty spot as Energy FC’s Kyle Miller brought down Jamieson in the penalty area with a heavy challenge. Amid the protests from the visitors, Hoffman stepped up to the spot and calmly buried the ball into the bottom left corner for his seventh goal of the season.
Although Energy FC posed occasional threats through counter attacks, Los Dos’ defense held firm. Throughout the first half, Galaxy II maintained the majority of possession through LA first teamer Marcelo Sarvas, who went 61 minutes in the victory.
LA Galaxy II continued to dictate the tempo in the second half and in the 51st minute extended their lead on a beautiful individual strike by Jamieson IV. After slicing through three defenders, Jamieson IV launched a thunderbolt into the back of the net, tripling the lead to 3-0. The goal was the Galaxy Homegrown Player’s first goal in USL PRO.
Four minutes later, Jamieson IV showed a glimpse of his magic once again as he curled the ball into net from the edge of the box. The curling shot proved too much for the outstretched arms of Kempin as Los Dos pulled ahead by four. In the 69th minute, Galaxy II completed the scoring as McBean found himself alone in space after impressive buildup play and slotted home his first goal of the year.
LA Galaxy II return to action on Wednesday, May 28th at 7:30 p.m. PT when they take on PSA Elite at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.
