CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Aug. 8, 2014) – LA Galaxy II (11-7-4, 37 points) return to StubHub Center when they face Arizona United SC (6-11-5, 21 points) this Saturday, Aug. 9 in Week 21 of USL PRO action, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. PT live on www.lagalaxy.com.
The match marks the fourth and final time Los Dos will face off against Arizona United in USL PRO play, with Galaxy II going 1-0-2 in the three previous matches. Led by head coach Michael Dellorusso, Arizona United SC are currently in 13th place in the USL PRO standings.
Galaxy II drew, 1-1 with Arizona in their first match of the year, played at the Peoria Sports Complex on April 25. Raul Mendiola opened the scoring on Arizona with a chip shot over United goalkeeper Evan Newton, but Paolo DelPiccolo scored for the hosts in the second half to level the score as both sides earned a point on the evening.
In their second game on the year, played at the Peoria Sports Complex June 21, Los Dos and United also finished 1-1 as an early goal from Travis Bowen was matched by Arizona’s Scott Morrison in the 54th minute.
LA Galaxy II found success against their USL PRO counterparts in the third matchup of their year, played July 4 at StubHub Center. Boosted by a brace from Charlie Rugg, a goal from Galaxy Homegrown Player Bradford Jamieson IV and a United own goal that all came in the opening half, Los Dos went on to earn a 4-2 victory in their first match played at home against Arizona. United’s goals came from Jonathan Okafor and Matt Kassel, who tallied late for the visitors after Galaxy II had taken the commanding 4-0 lead.
Following the match against Arizona United SC, Curt Onalfo’s side will travel to take on Oklahoma Energy FC at Pribil Stadium Saturday, Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. PT.
