CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Sept. 5, 2014) – LA Galaxy II (14-7-6, 48 points) will face Sacramento Republic FC (17-6-4, 55 points) on the road at Bonney Field Saturday, Sept. 6 for 8:00 p.m. PT live on www.lagalaxy.com.
The match on Saturday will mark the fourth time the two clubs will face off in USL PRO this year, with the Galaxy going 0-2-1 against Sacramento in the previous three. Led by head coach Predrag Radosavljevic, Sacramento are currently in second place in the USL PRO standings.
In the first matchup of the year, Galaxy II tied Sacramento 1-1 as Chandler Hoffman scored a late goal to equalize an earlier strike from Justin Braun.
Los Dos fell to Sacramento in the following two matches, first losing 3-0 on April 13 before falling 2-1 on May 17, with both matches played in Sacramento. In the 2-1 loss May 17, the Galaxy were tied 1-1 before Rafael Garcia was sent off shortly after halftime and Rodrigo Lopez scored the game winner in the 67th minute for Sacramento against a 10-man Galaxy side.
Galaxy II are coming off of a 1-1 draw at StubHub Center against the Richmond Kickers on Monday. A first half penalty kick from Chandler Hoffman, his 13th goal of the year, was matched in the second half when William Yomby scored a header to level the game.
Following the match against Sacramento Republic FC, Curt Onalfo’s side will begin the USL PRO Playoffs with a quarterfinal match played Sept. 13 at StubHub Center. That match, the club’s first-ever USL PRO Playoff match, will feature free entry and parking. A specific time and opponent will be named following the completion of this weekend’s USL PRO matches.
