CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Sept. 19, 2014) – LA Galaxy II will face Sacramento Republic FC on the road at Bonney Field in the USL PRO Semifinal match this Saturday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. PT live on www.lagalaxy.com. Should Galaxy II advance, they would host the USL PRO Championship match at StubHub Center next weekend.
In the quarterfinal match played Sept. 13 at StubHub Center, Galaxy II defeated the Rochester Rhinos by a score of 2-1 behind goals from Chandler Hoffman and Charlie Rugg. After Rochester took a first-half lead, Hoffman leveled the match with a penalty before halftime and then assisted Rugg in the second half for the game winner as Los Dos held on for the victory.
Sacramento earned a berth in the semifinal match with a 4-1 win over the Wilmington Hammerheads in the quarterfinals. A brace from Nemanja Vukovic and goals from Mickey Daly, and Adam Jahn boosted Sacramento as they earned a convincing home victory on the night.
The match against Sacramento will mark the fifth time the California sides have faced each other this year, with Galaxy II going 1-2-1 in their previous four matches. In the most recent meeting, Los Dos handed Sacramento just their second home loss of the season with a 2-1 victory at Bonney Field behind a brace from LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Jack McBean.
Against Sacramento, Los Dos will be without the services of captain Rafael Garcia, who will be unavailable after picking up a red card against Rochester in the quarterfinal match.
Led by head coach Curt Onalfo, Los Dos finished in third place in the USL PRO Regular Season standings with a 15-7-6 record, good enough for 51 points. Forward Chandler Hoffman finished the year with a team-leading 13 goals for Galaxy II, the third most in USL PRO, and LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Raul Mendiola led in assists for Los Dos with eight.
