CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, April 17, 2014) – The LA Galaxy II (2-1-1, 7 points) will conclude their five-game home stretch when they host Orange County Blues FC (1-2-0, 3 points) in USL PRO Week 5 at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium on Saturday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. PT. All of the action will be streamed live via lagalaxy.com and the club’s YouTube channel with play-by-play commentary from LA Galaxy broadcast veteran Joe Tutino.
The LA Galaxy II endured an up-and-down week as they defeated Oklahoma City Energy FC on April 7 by a score of 4-2 before suffering their first loss of the season last Sunday when they fell to Sacramento Republic FC 3-0. Los Dos now sit in third place of the USL PRO standings with seven points after last weekend’s loss, dropping their record to 2-1-1.
For his role in LA’s win over Oklahoma City, Galaxy defender Daniel Steres was named to USL PRO’s Team of the Week for the fourth week of the USL PRO season. Steres’ honor is the second time that the defender has been named to USL PRO team of the week and the fifth time that a Galaxy II player has made the list.
Saturday’s match against the Blues will mark the second time that Galaxy II will face off against their Southern California rivals in USL PRO play. In their first meeting, Galaxy midfielder Kenney Walker scored a goal and recorded an assist as LA Galaxy II defeated the Blues 3-1 in their inaugural match on March 22 in Carson, Calif.
The Orange County Blues enter the match with a 1-2-0 record after winning their first match of the season against Sacramento Republic last Saturday with a 2-1 result after having dropped their first two matches to Oklahoma City Energy FC and the Galaxy II. The Blues currently sit in ninth place of the USL PRO standings with three points.
