In 2016, LA Galaxy II led the USL Western Conference in goals scored, helping the club to their third consecutive playoff appearance. The team’s biggest contributors in that category are all signed with LA Galaxy, but many will continue to feature for Los Dos in 2017. There’s a new core of LA Galaxy II forwards though, and maintaining Los Dos’ reputation of talent up top will be left to them.
Ethan Zubak
2016 was a year Zubak won’t quickly forget. He scored his first professional goal at the age of 17, and soon after, signed his first professional contract at the age of 18. Zubak recorded 22 appearances for Los Dos last season, recording two goals and one assist along the way. Zubak has some of the most potential on the roster and his familiarity with new LA Galaxy II Head Coach Mike Muñoz should make for a year of increased development in 2017.
Adonis Amaya
Also returning from the 2016 roster is 20-year-old forward Adonis Amaya. The speedy forward pestered defenses with his pressure last season, setting up plenty of scoring opportunities along the way. Amaya recorded four goals and five assists, almost all of those coming in the second half of the season.
Justin Dhillon
The only offseason addition made to Los Dos’ frontline is former Galaxy Academy forward and Cal Poly standout Justin Dhillon. A big target forward, Dhillon earned 2016 All-Big West Conference First Team in his senior season. In his first two seasons with Cal Poly, Dhillon was named to the Big West All-Freshmen Team and the All-Big West Second Team his sophomore year.
Bradford Jamieson IV, Ariel Lassiter, Jose Villarreal and Jack McBean
These four LA Galaxy players are likely to spend various amounts of time with LA Galaxy II again this season. The group combined for 31 of Los Dos’ 52 goals in 2016, as well as 10 of the team’s assists. As the key group backing up the first-team’s attack, Jamieson, Lassiter, Villarreal and McBean will continue to stay fresh for the first team via LA Galaxy II in 2017.
