CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Sept. 7, 2014) – LA Galaxy II will face the Rochester Rhinos in the a USL PRO Playoffs quarterfinal match at StubHub Center this Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. PT. The match, Galaxy II’s first-ever USL PRO Playoff appearance, will feature free entry and parking for all fans in attendance.
Lead by head coach Curt Onalfo, Los Dos finished in 3rd place in the USL PRO standings with a 15-7-6 record, good enough for 51 points. Forward Chandler Hoffman finished the year with a team-leading 13 goals for Galaxy II, the third most in USL PRO, and LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Raul Mendiola led in assists for Los Dos with eight.
Rochester enters the game after finishing in sixth place in USL PRO with a 10-10-8 record (38 points). Forward Jimmy Banks scored a team-high nine goals on the year, while Banks and midfielder Vu Minh were tied for the team lead in assists with three. Head coach Bob Lilley’s side earned the sixth-place spot after a 2-0 over Wilmington Hammerheads FC on Sunday.
The match against Rochester will mark the second time the two teams have faced off this year. In the first match, played June 11 at StubHub Center, a 75th minute goal from captain Rafael Garcia wasn’t enough to complete the comeback as Los Dos fell, 2-1.
