LA Galaxy II will open the 2018 USL Regular Season this weekend when they take on Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday, March 17 at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, Colo. (5 p.m. PT, LAGalaxy.com/2).
Saturday will mark the start of Los Dos’ fifth season in competition, with Head Coach Mike Muñoz taking the reins for his second season in charge. Muñoz and his staff will look to reverse Galaxy II’s fortunes a year ago, as they finished the 2017 season with a 8-19-5 record. Their opening weekend opponent, Colorado Springs Switchbacks, finished one spot outside of playoff contention in 2017, going 12-12-8 on the year.
The two split results last year, with each team taking their points at the other’s home venue. In their last meeting, Los Dos picked up a 2-1 win at Weidner Field on Aug. 18, 2017. Ariel Lassiter scored the opening goal for the Galaxy in that match, with an own goal securing all three points for Los Dos.
On Saturday, Galaxy II wrapped up their 2018 Preseason with a 3-1 win over UC Irvine at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium. In other team news, last Friday, Los Dos announced the signing of defender Nate Shultz, LA Galaxy’s 48th pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.
Los Dos will host their 2018 Home Opener on Saturday, March 31 against San Antonio FC at StubHub Center. Tickets to that match are available for purchase here.
