LA Galaxy II have signed midfielder Don Tchilao, the club announced today, pending league and federation approval. Tchilao, 22, was selected by the LA Galaxy with the 36th pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
“Don has shown well for himself this preseason and we’re excited to sign him to LA Galaxy II,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. “We think his attacking abilities and strong work ethic will make him a valuable addition to Los Dos.”
Tchilao joins Los Dos after a four-year career at Oregon State, where he recorded 15 goals and 13 assists in 71 appearances for the Beavers. In his senior season, he totaled 20 starts with seven goals and nine assists. Tchilao was Second Team All-Pac-12 in 2017 and First Team All-Pac-12 in 2018.
In his youth career, Tchilao led San Tan Legacy Soccer Club of Chandler, Ariz. to back-to-back state and league titles. In 2015, Tchilao helped his high school team to a 2015 State Championship title. During one Division I match, Tchilao scored nine goals, securing the Arizona record for goals scored in a single game. For his efforts, Tchilao was named the 2015 Division I Player of the Year and one of three finalists for the Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year.
Tchilao and LA Galaxy II will kick off the 2019 USL Regular Season on Saturday, March 9 against Colorado Springs Switchbacks at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium. Tickets to the 2019 Home Opener are on sale now.
