John Requejo joined Los Dos before the start of the 2018 season. With 27 starts and more minutes tan any other LA Galaxy II player, Requejo was featured prominently in head coach Mike Munoz's defense. He was awarded the LA Galaxy II Defender of the Year award for his impressive 2018 season, in which he produced two assists, 11 total shots and 24 scoring chances - the highest mark of a Los Dos defender.
How did you improve as a player this season?
“Before [coming to LA Galaxy II] I hadn't played that many games. When I came to LA Galaxy II, I started in most of the games and got a decent amount of games here. That helped me get in a good rhythm and improve as a player."
What was your favorite memory of the season?
“My favorite moment was probably when we beat Sacramento Republic FC because it was at their home field. We scored a lot of goals on them and put them away early. It was a great team effort, so it felt good.”
What are some of your expectations for the 2019 season?
“Obviously, I want to become a better player, to get back from my injury and improve from this season. For the team, we couldn't get to playoffs this year so the main goal for the next year is to make playoffs and make a playoff push. We want to win the Championship. We need to find our chemistry earlier in the season because I think this year we found it a little later. It would be good if we can find our chemistry early on in the season."
