LA Galaxy midfielder Diego Fagundez has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 8 after the Galaxy's 1-1 draw on Saturday night against Houston Dynamo FC at Dignity Health Sports Park.
Wearing the captain's armband for the Galaxy, Fagundez made his 400th MLS Regular Season appearance in Saturday's match, becoming the 15th player in MLS history to play as many games in the league. At 30 years, 57 days, he is the youngest to reach the mark, surpassing the previous record set by Darlington Nagbe (33 years, 331 days) last June.
In the 57th minute of the match, Fagundez curled home a free kick to tie the game and mark not only his first goal of the season but also his 150th goal contribution (74 goals, 76 assists) in MLS Regular Season play. He is the 16th player in league history to accomplish that feat. The goal was also the first direct free kick goal for the Galaxy in league play since Douglas Costa last did so against Toronto FC on Aug. 31, 2022.
