LOS ANGELES (Monday, July 29, 2019) – The LA Galaxy (12-9-1, 37 points) are again on the road this week, facing Atlanta United FC (11-9-3, 36 points) at 2 p.m. PT on Saturday, Aug. 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (FOX).
This will mark the Galaxy’s first contest against Atlanta United FC in 2019. Their last meeting came April 21, 2018, where the LA Galaxy fell 0-2.
For this weekend’s contest, Zlatan Ibrahimović will be suspended for yellow card accumulation, as he earned on in the Galaxy’s weekend loss to Portland Timbers. Diego Polenta and Efrain Alvarez will also be unavailable, with each picking up red cards in Portland.
After the weekend, the Galaxy are now in third place in the Western Conference with 37 points on the season. Atlanta United come into this weekend’s game after a 4-3 away loss to LAFC. With 36 points, Atlanta is second in the MLS Eastern Conference standings.
Ibrahimović and Jonathan dos Santos are set to compete in this year’s MLS All-Star Game, scheduled for 5 p.m. PT on Wednesday, July 31 against Atlético Madrid at Exploria Stadium in Orlando. Alvarez will be in action on Tuesday, featuring in the MLS Homegrown game. The match will be broadcast live on FS1. The MLS Homegrowns will take on the Chivas Guadalajara U-20s at 2 p.m. PT on Tuesday, July 30 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, streamed live on Twitter.
