CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Jan. 26, 2015) – The LA Galaxy have re-signed midfielder Rafael Garcia, the club announced today. Garcia had spent the previous three seasons with the Galaxy since being drafted in 2012. Per MLS and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Garcia, 25, was selected by the Galaxy in the second round (38th overall) of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft. In three years with the Galaxy, he made 11 appearances for the club and started in one match.
Last season, the midfielder served as the captain for LA Galaxy II in USL PRO, helping lead the club to the USL PRO Playoff Semifinal match after finishing third in the regular season standings. In total, Garcia made 23 appearances while recording four goals and two assists during Los Dos’ inaugural campaign.
Born in Grenada Hills, Calif., Garcia attended Cal State Northridge for four years, where he served as captain during his final two seasons and earned All-Big West honors as a senior in 2011.
