LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2023) – The LA Galaxy today drafted two players in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, presented by adidas. The Galaxy selected goalkeeper Ethan Brandt from Western Michigan University (No. 46 overall) in the second round and midfielder Tucker Lepley from UCLA in the third round (No. 62 overall). Earlier in the day, the Galaxy traded their natural second round draft pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft to Atlanta United FC in exchange for the player rights to forward Miguel Berry.Â
Brandt, a native of Torrance, Calif., joins the Galaxy after posting 10 shutouts and 73 saves in 25 career matches played for Western Michigan University (2021-23). During the 2023 campaign, his first season as a full-time starter, Brandt recorded 10 shutouts, 73 saves and held a 18-1-4 record as he helped lead the Broncos to the Round of 16 of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Additionally, Brandt was named the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and earned First-Team All-MVC honors.Â
Lepley, 21, was selected by LA after recording 11 goals and 10 assists in 45 games played (41 starts) across a three-year career at UCLA (2021-23). During the 2023 campaign, Lepley earned First Team All-Pac-12 honors after logging three goals and two assist in 18 matches played (18 starts) and guiding UCLA to its first Pac-12 title since 2012. In his redshirt freshman season in 2021, the Charlotte, N.C., native was named the Bruins’ Team MVP after notching five goals and seven assists in 19 matches played (19 starts). Additionally, Lepley was part of the Sporting Kansas City Academy, making 10 appearances (5 starts) for Swope Park Rangers during the 2019 USL Championship Regular Season.Â
