The LA Galaxy have signed John Bitsoe Garcia to join its eSports roster, the club announced today. Garcia joins Kyle Danese, Bobby Park, Martin Oregel, and Giuseppe Guastella on the club’s roster for the remainder of the 2019 season.
Playing under the gamertag xbLeU, Garcia, a product of Riverside, Calif., is currently ranked 79th in the world for PlayStation®4 players of EA Sports FIFA 19.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed a successful competitive career, winning the FIFA 17 Man City eSports Cup, and the LA Galaxy’s own FIFA 18 tournament. Garcia was additionally a three-time regional finalist, and the FIFA 18 Gfinity North American Spring Cup finalist.
In 2018, the LA Galaxy formed their first-ever eSports team to participate in eMLS, the first competitive league for EA Sports FIFA in North America. Each team in eMLS selects one FIFA player to represent them in the competition, which culminates at eMLS Cup each Spring. Additionally, every rostered eSports player vies for FIFA Pro Points by competing in various EA Sports FIFA 19 events throughout the year, with the goal of reaching the Global Series Playoffs, the main qualification tournament to the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup.
