Completing the fourteenth community event of the LA Galaxy’s 20 for Twenty initiative, LA Galaxy, StubHub Center, and AEG staff teamed up with TreePeople to refurbish and care for trees at Edward Vincent Jr. Park in Inglewood, California on October 23rd.

Making their way across the park, volunteers spent the day building basins, deep-watering and mulching over 31 out of more than 100 trees located in the park. Following the tree care and nourishment, lunch was provided by the Homeboy Industries Food Truck for all volunteers.

TreePeople is a nonprofit organization that works with communities to inspire, engage and support Los Angeles residents to plant and nourish trees in order to transform local spaces into a safe, healthy, fun, and sustainable environment. TreePeople has planted more than four million trees since their formation in 1970 and commit to caring for every tree planted for five years. 20 for Twenty is a year-long initiative that will see the implementation of 20 unique community service acts to celebrate the Galaxy’s 20th season in Major League Soccer. To date, the LA Galaxy have completed fourteen 20 for Twenty community events. Previously the Club hosted an in-game Blood Drive with American Red Cross, participated in Habitat for Humanity of Los Angeles Build Day, worked with Heal the Bay to help clean Redondo Beach, volunteered as Fans in the Stands for Special Olympics World Games and participated in the 29th annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon benefiting Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, among other initiatives.

The next 20 for Twenty event will take place on November 5th with a Los Angeles Regional Food Bank Volunteer Day, which encourages LA Galaxy players, staff and fans to spend the day sorting and packaging food in preparation of the holidays.
