LOS ANGELES (Monday, July 22, 2019) – The LA Galaxy (12-8-1, 37 points) are again at home this week, facing Club Tijuana in the 2019 Leagues Cup at 8 p.m. PT on Tuesday, July 23rd at Dignity Health Sports Park (ESPN/Univision). The Galaxy then go on the road for an MLS fixture, facing Western Conference opposition Portland Timbers (8-8-4, 28 points) at 7:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, July 27th at Providence Park (FS1).
The LA Galaxy have played Portland once in 2019 so far during MLS play, winning the home contest 2-1 on March 31st. Team captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic put away two penalty kicks to secure the game and all three points for the Galaxy. The Galaxy played the Timbers twice last year, winning again 2-1 at home, but were held to a 1-1 draw at Providence Park in Portland.
The Galaxy most recently defeated LAFC 3-2 last Friday, with forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring all three Galaxy goals, picking up his second ever MLS hat trick in the process. The Galaxy are now in second place in the Western Conference on 37 points through this point in the season. The Portland Timbers come into this game having beaten Seattle Sounders FC 2-1 on Sunday. Meanwhile, Club Tijuana come into the Leagues Cup clash having won their most recent match in Liga MX 3-1 against Puebla.
