Leonard Garcia has been an EMT in the Emergency Department (ED) at Community Hospital of San Bernardino for the past five years. As an EMT, Leonard serves as a gatekeeper to a very busy ED in a community hit hard by COVID-19. Leonard has remained flexible in the constantly changing environment of the ED throughout the pandemic. His leadership skills, ingenuity and communication have resulted in a stream-lined patient throughput system. Calm and collected in pressure-filled situations, Leonard prioritizes tasks while always serving the best interests of our patients. His display of safety and well-being in the care he provides to our community is what makes him the Healthcare Hero of the Game.
