With three games remaining in their 2021 USL Championship campaign, LA Galaxy II travel to face the Charleston Battery at Patriots Point Soccer Complex on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at 4:00 p.m. PT live on ESPN+.
This year, Los Dos are 11-12-6 (39 points), with 52 goals scored and 50 conceded for a +2 goal differential. In their most recent match, LA Galaxy II handed El Paso Locomotive FC just their third loss of the season in a 5-0 win at Dignity Health Sports Park on Oct. 17. Preston Judd registered a brace, while Cameron Dunbar and Jorge Hernández each tallied a goal and an assist in the victory against El Paso. Additionally, Josh Drack tallied two assists, while goalkeeper Justin vom Steeg notched four saves and his eighth shutout of the campaign.
LA Galaxy II remain in fourth place in the Pacific Division, four points behind third-place Orange County SC (12-10-7, 43 points) and five points ahead of fifth-place Oakland Roots SC (9-13-7, 34 points). The top four teams from each division in the regular season will advance into a regionalized single-elimination bracket for the playoffs. In their last seven games played dating back to Sept. 18, Los Dos have posted a record of 5-1-1, outscoring their opponents 11-4 and posting five shutouts during that span.
During the 2021 campaign, Judd has ranks tied for seventh in the league in goals scored (15), while Jorge Hernández ranks second on LA with 12 goals scored, including ranking second in the league with 79 chances created. Vom Steeg leads the team and ranks tied for fourth in the league with eight shutouts and 64 saves in 21 games played in 2021. Drack ranks tied for fourth in the USL Championship with nine assists. Notably, Galaxy II are unbeaten in their last four road games played (3-0-1) dating back to a 1-0 win at Oakland on Sept. 18, and hold a 7-6-1 record overall on the road in 2021.
Head Coach Junior Gonzalez holds a 25-24-11 record throughout his head coaching tenure with LA Galaxy II and has led the team to two-consecutive playoff appearances. In the seven years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos have qualified for playoffs five times, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015.
