LA Galaxy II (7-12-6, 27 points) will look to lengthen their unbeaten streak to four as they hit the road to face Real Monarchs SLC (16-6-2, 50 points) at 7 p.m. PT on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Zions Bank Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
LA Galaxy II will face stiff competition on Saturday as they face a Real Monarchs side that sits in first in the USL Western Conference standings. This season, Real Monarchs have only dropped two points at home when they played Las Vegas Lights FC on April 30. In that match, neither side was able to find a goal and ended in a 0-0 draw. Los Dos will also compete against a familiar face in Chandler Hoffman, a former Galaxy II player. Hoffman began his USL career with the Galaxy in 2014. He is now the Monarchs’ leading goal scorer with nine goals recorded on the season.
Los Dos will look to have a repeat performance from their last away game which resulted in a 4-1 victory over Sacramento Republic FC. With 44 goals recorded this season, LA Galaxy II are the 7th highest attacking force in the USL. In the Western Conference, Galaxy II have the 4th highest number of goals scored with the second highest conversion rate, proving they are an attacking side to be reckoned with.
Earlier in the week, Los Dos earned their third consecutive result against Rio Grande Valley FC (3-9-12, 21 points) at StubHub Center. After going down right after the start of second half, Galaxy II raised their energy while looking for an equalizer. Finally, in the 77th minute, Justin Dhillon was able to put a left-footed strike in the back of the net, after receiving a pristine pass from Efrain Alvarez.
This is the sides’ first contest of the 2018 season. On Saturday, Los Dos will look to improve upon last year’s 0-2-0 record against Real Monarchs SLC.
