LA Galaxy II remain at home for a match against Oakland Roots on Sunday, May 23 at 5 p.m. PT live on ESPN+ in what will mark the first ever contest between the two clubs and Oakland’s second-ever contest in club history.
LA Galaxy II earned a 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City II on Wednesday night as midfielder Jorge Hernandez scored his team-leading third goal of the season. This year, Los Dos are now 2-1-2 with eight points, with nine goals scored and three conceded for a +6 goal differential. LA Galaxy II featured five first-team players in the starting XI on Wednesday evening: Justin Vom Steeg, Marcus Ferkranus, Cameron Dunbar, Augustine Williams and Kai Koreniuk.
Los Dos are now unbeaten in their previous four matches, going 2-0-2 in that span with nine goals scored and just two conceded. LA Galaxy II are now 1-1-2 at home this season.
Sunday marks the first-ever contest between Los Dos and Oakland. In their first-ever contest as a club, Oakland fell to Phoenix Rising FC 3-0 on the road on Saturday, May 8.
In 2020, Los Dos finished the regular season 8-6-2 with 26 points (4-3-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road), earning them second place in Group B standings and clinching a berth in the USL Championship Playoffs for the second-straight season.
Head Coach Junior Gonzalez holds a 17-13-7 record throughout his head coaching tenure with LA Galaxy II and has led the team to two-consecutive playoff appearances. In the seven years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos have qualified for playoffs five times, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015.

The opening weekend begins a 32-game regular season for every club in the league that will see each team in both the Eastern and Western Conferences play its division opponents four times – twice home, twice away.
