With five games remaining in their 2021 USL Championship campaign, LA Galaxy II travel to face Sacramento Republic FC at Heart Health Park on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. PT live on ESPN+.
This year, Los Dos are 10-12-5 (35 points), with 46 goals scored and 49 conceded for a -3 goal differential. In their most recent match, LA Galaxy II earned their third consecutive road win in league play with a 1-0 victory over Las Vegas Lights FC at Cashman Field on Oct. 8. With the win over Las Vegas, LA Galaxy II remain in fourth place in the Pacific Division, two points behind third-place Orange County SC (10-9-7, 37 points) and one point ahead of fifth-place Oakland Roots SC (9-11-7, 34 points). The top four teams from each division in the regular season will advance into a regionalized single-elimination bracket for the playoffs.
During the 2021 campaign, Preston Judd has ranks tied for ninth in the league in goals scored (12), while Jorge Hernández ranks second on LA with 11 goals scored, including leading the league with 72 chances created. Vom Steeg leads the team and ranks tied for fourth in the league with seven shutouts and 56 saves in 19 games played in 2021. Josh Drack ranks tied for 13th in the USL Championship with six assists.
Wednesday’s contest marks the fourth and final meeting between LA and Sacramento in 2021, with the series tied 1-1-1. In the last meeting between the two clubs, Galaxy II earned a 2-0 win on the road over Sacramento on Sept. 26. Notably, LA Galaxy II holds a 7-6-0 record in 13 games played on the road during the 2021 campaign. LA is 4-1-0 in its last five games played dating back to a 1-0 win over Oakland Roots SC on Sept. 18. The road win over Las Vegas marked LA’s third consecutive road shutout dating back to Sept. 18.
In 2020, Los Dos finished the regular season 8-6-2 with 26 points (4-3-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road), earning them second place in Group B standings and clinching a berth in the USL Championship Playoffs for the second-straight season.
Head Coach Junior Gonzalez holds a 24-24-10 record throughout his head coaching tenure with LA Galaxy II and has led the team to two-consecutive playoff appearances. In the seven years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos have qualified for playoffs five times, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015.
