Notes:
- With the loss, the Galaxy have been eliminated from the 2011/12 CONCACAF Champions League. The Galaxy lost the series 4-3 on aggregate after tying 2-2 in the first leg in Toronto.
- The Galaxy started 10 of the 11 players that started the first leg of the series in Toronto last week. The only change from that game was the addition of Tommy Meyer in the starting lineup in place of Andrew Boyens. This was Meyer’s first-ever appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League.
- Bruce Arena also started 10 of the same 11 players that he used in Saturday’s 3-1 home loss to Real Salt Lake with Juninho returning to the lineup in place of Marcelo Sarvas, who is ineligible to play for the Galaxy in the 2011/12 Champions League after representing Alajuelense earlier in the competition.
- Ryan Johnson gave Toronto FC a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute, heading home a Nick Soolsma cross for his fifth goal of the competition. He scored the opening goal in each leg of the series.
- LA tied the score in the 55th minute when Ty Harden deflected a Landon Donovan cross past his goalie for an own goal.
- That goal was the third own goal scored for the Galaxy in Champions League history. The Galaxy have now scored 14 goals all-time in the competition with no individual player scoring more than two.
- Nick Soolsma scored the eventual series-winning goal in the 67th minute, finishing a Ryan Johnson cross from 10 yards out.
- Dan Keat and Paolo Cardozo each made their 2012 debuts in the game, coming on for Sean Franklin and Mike Magee respectively in the 72nd minute.
- After conceding just four goals in the Group Stage of the Champions League, the Galaxy conceded four goals over the two legs against Toronto.
- Prior to tonight, the Galaxy had surrendered just one goal at home in the competition.
- After going 3-0-0 at home in the Group Stage, the Galaxy are now 0-2-0 in knockout stage game
- Tonight’s loss was the Galaxy’s second straight home defeat in all competitions. They had not lost two straight at home since August 2010.
- The Galaxy finish the 2011/12CONCACAF Champions League with a 4-3-1 record and a +3 goal differential.
- The attendance for tonight’s game was a capacity crowd of 7,500 at The Home Depot Center.
- The Galaxy are back in action on Sunday, March 18 when they host D.C. United at The Home Depot Center. That game is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m. with the players receiving their MLS Cup championship rings prior to the game.
- LA will return to the CONCACAF Champions League this summer when they open play in the Group Stage of the 2012/13 competition.
