On the team’s gameplan:
We wanted to frustrate San Antonio. They’re a possession based team that loves to move the ball. They avoid to play long at any time so we knew they’d play short. We felt that defensively, if we could set them up in some midfield traps centrally and wide, that we’d be able to punish them on the counter. I think when we did it well and we set those traps, we were able to exploit them and force those mistakes. Technically, I just felt that we didn’t execute when we had the ball. Circulation was a little bit too slow at times. We didn’t maximize what we thought we could get away with today.
Assessing the team’s offensive play this season:
We wanted to make sure defense was our top priority heading into this year. At least heading into this season, keeping clean sheets, keeping the opponent scoring to a minimum…it’s something that we’ve really improved on and now it’s something that we have to concentrate more on. We felt there were some areas where we could exploit San Antonio, but again, we just didn’t maximize those opportunities.
On facing Orange County SC next Saturday:
Orange County is tough. I think they beat OKC today pretty badly, so they are in a good run of form. Our guys have to be up for it. We’ve got to recover. I couple adjustments is all we need. I look forward to the big game.
