LA Galaxy II are playing their best soccer of 2017 right now and will be looking to extend their longest unbeaten streak of the season to five against Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday. Los Dos also moved up a spot in the USL standings, from 14th to 13th.

LA are 0-2-0 against Phoenix this season, suffering 2-1 losses both home and away to the club. This weekend’s match could be the first time Los Dos see Phoenix Rising FC forward Didier Drogba, who has appeared in each of the team’s last eight matches, recording four goals and two assists in that run.

In LA Galaxy II’s last outing at the Track & Field Stadium, they earned a 1-0 win over Orange County SC in their first victory at home since a 2-0 win on opening day. The first half was scoreless and even though both teams had chances to score, neither could capitalize. Los Dos struck first after a beautiful give-and-go play between Ryo Fujii and Ethan Zubak was finished off by Fujii in the 57th minute. Jon Kempin was the real hero though, stopping a penalty kick from Orange County midfielder Roy Meeus in the 86thminute and totaling eight saves on the night.

With Ethan Zubak back in the lineup, the Los Dos attack has a refreshed look. Adding to the recent successful form of Adrian Vera and Justin Dhillon, Zubak and the Galaxy have been averaging two goals per game in their last four matches. Zubak, a Galaxy Academy graduate, was named the No. 3 on USL’s “20 under 20” player list last week.
