The two sides have met just once this season, back in early April when San Antonio defeated Los Dos 3-0 at their home field, with help from a one-goal, one-assist performance from Billy Forbes. San Antonio have proven themselves as one of the league’s toughest teams to face on the road in 2017, tallying a 7-2-3 record this season. Currently, they’re ranked 2nd in the USL Western Conference.
Things have been harder for LA Galaxy II at home, the team has managed a 3-8-3 record at StubHub Center this season. The Galaxy fell 2-1 in their most recent home outing with Reno 1868 FC on Wednesday. Saturday’s game will finish off a stretch of three home games in seven days, a stretch of schedule that started with a 1-0 win over Rio Grande Valley FC Toros last Sunday.
The Galaxy are playing some of their best soccer of the season, having already pulled more points from this half of the season than they did the first half. LA’s defense has proven to be a big reason for that, conceding just over an average of one goal per game in their last seven contests. In the first half of the season, they conceded an average of two goals per game.
The team has also been bolstered by the offensive performances of Jack McBean and Ariel Lassiter. Lassiter has scored three times in his last four appearances; McBean has assisted in three of his last four appearances.
