Galaxy II

Preview: LA Galaxy II vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2

LA Galaxy II (6-12-4, 22 points) will look to put three more points to their playoff cause when they hit the road this weekend to take on Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 (4-13-7, 19 points) at 3 p.m. PT on Sunday, Aug. 27 at McLeod Athletic Park in British Columbia. The match will be streamed live and for free onLAGalaxy.com/2.

Los Dos are on the road for a second straight weekend, anxious to build on the three points they collected in Colorado Springs last week with a 2-1 win over Switchbacks FC. The Galaxy have showed character on the road this season, turning in a 4-5-1 record, one of the best in the conference. Ahead of the weekend’s slate of games, LA are 11 points off playoff inclusion with the 6th, 7th and 8th places belonging to teams with 33 points. With games in hand on many teams ahead of Los Dos in the standings and a three-game home stand coming up, the time is now for Galaxy to mount a postseason charge.

LA Galaxy II have been strong in defense as of late, conceding just one goal per game in their last four contests. Boosted by the recent signing of centerback Jefrey Payeras and a slow return to health for the first team, the team is no longer conceding the 2+ goals they averaged before this stretch.

Ariel Lassiter has also boosted Los Dos, snagging two goals in his two most recent appearances for the side. Justin Dhillon (6 goals) and Adrian Vera (5 goals) remain top offensive threats for Los Dos, while Ethan Zubak carries a special history against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2, scoring against them in the team’s 2-0 home opener win on March 25.

Ahead of the match, the momentum favors LA Galaxy II, who have taken only one loss in their last six contests. VWFC2 is currently riding a 13-game winless streak with their last win coming on June 4.
