McCarthy, who made six saves in a 2-1 win at home against Minnesota United FC on July 7, registered four shutouts in eight matches played during LAFC’s run to the 2022-23 Concacaf Champions League Final, earning Golden Glove honors and being named to the Concacaf Champions League Best XI. In four games played in the month of June, McCarthy held a 0.50 goals-against average, posted three shutouts and logged 16 saves.
- Japanese International defender Miki Yamane, who recorded his sixth assist of the 2024 campaign against Minnesota United FC on July 7, makes his 23rd appearance (23rd start) during the 2024 campaign against Dallas. Yamane was named to the J1 League Best XI in three consecutive seasons (2020, 2021, 2022), and helped Kawasaki Frontale earn two J1 League titles (2021, 2020), two Emperor’s Cup titles (2020, 2023) and one Japanese Super Cup (2021).
- U.S. National Team defender and LA Galaxy Academy product Jalen Neal, 20, makes his 12th appearance (9th start) for the Galaxy during the 2024 campaign in tonight’s match. Neal has tallied one goal in 32 career appearances (26 starts) across all competitions for the LA Galaxy (2022-Present).
- Japanese International defender Maya Yoshida captains the Galaxy in tonight’s match. Yoshida, who has recorded two goals in 23 appearances (23 starts) during the 2024 campaign, has tallied three goals in 35 career regular-season appearances (35 starts) for LA. Notably, Yoshida played in three FIFA World Cups (2014, 2018, 2022) for the Japanese National Team.
- John Nelson makes his fourth start (13th appearance) of the 2024 campaign in tonight’s match against Dallas. The Medina, Ohio, native has recorded four assists in 83 career MLS appearances (49 starts) across six seasons played in the league (2019-24). After being drafted by FC Dallas with the 10th overall pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, Nelson went on to make 30 career league appearances (18 starts) across three seasons played (2018-21) with Dallas.
- Mark Delgado, who has recorded one goal and six assists in 22 appearances (21 starts) this season, starts in midfield. Notably, Delgado has tallied 22 goals and 37 assists in 299 career games played (262 starts) across 13 seasons in MLS (2012-Present). With his next appearance, Delgado will become the 68th player in MLS history to make 300 career MLS Regular Season appearances. Additionally, Delgado ranks first amongst all MLS players in distance covered in possession (110.33 km) and second in total distance covered (266.23 km) during the 2024 campaign.
- Edwin Cerrillo makes his 24th appearance (17th start) for LA this season in tonight’s match against FC Dallas. Cerrillo has notched six assists in 121 games played (87 starts) in six seasons played in MLS (2019-Present). Notably, Cerrillo ranks second in MLS behind only Darlington Nagbe (96.37%) with a 95.37% pass completion percentage (min. 500 minutes played) during the 2024 campaign. - Brazilian youth international forward Gabriel Pec, 23, who has 17 goal contributions (9 goals, 8 assists) in 22 appearances (19 starts) for the Galaxy this season, gets the start on the right in tonight’s match against FC Dallas. In nine games played dating back to May 25, Pec’s 12 goal contributions (6 goals, 6 assists) ranks tied for second in the league behind only Cucho Hernandez (7 goals, 6 assists). - Ghanian National Team forward Joseph Paintsil, who scored the game-winning goal in the 3-0 win over San Jose on June 29, starts up top in tonight’s match.
